Patrick Butaye, handling bacteriology-related manuscripts, is a veterinarian and has a PhD from Ghent University, Belgium. His career started at the former CODA-CERVA and during that period he became professor at Ghent University, a position he holds until now. Currently he holds a STEM-Professorship at the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences in the City University of Hong Kong where he heads the global microbial genomics STEM-lab. He teaches bacteriology and focusses his research mainly on understanding the genomic epidemiology of bacteria and bacteriophages in order to mitigate the burden of antimicrobial resistance and associated infectious diseases.
