Professor Marcelo Gottschalk

Marcelo Gottschalk, is a DVM and has a PhD in microbiology and immunology from the University of Montreal, Canada. He is presently professor at the Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Montreal. He set up the Québec Center of Research on Swine Infectiology and he is the director of the international laboratories on Streptococcus suis and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae. The expertise of his research relates primarily to the study on bacterial virulence factors, host response as well as the development of diagnostic tools and vaccine candidates for pathogens of veterinary and zoonotic importance.
