LTA is absent in the S. suis serotype 2 P1/7 ∆ltaS mutant. A Representative chromatograms (UV detection: λ = 254 nm) of HIC runs for LTA isolation from S. suis P1/7 wild-type (top) and ∆ltaS (bottom) including phosphate content. Indicated pools were subjected to (B) Tris-tricine-PAGE with combined alcian blue and silver staining. Applied material is the content of seven (wt) or five (∆ltaS) pooled runs, respectively [yields: P1: 2.12 mg, P2: 13.27 mg, 0.25 mg (wt); P1: 5.57 mg, P2: 2.79 mg, 0.69 mg (∆ltaS). Note: Phosphate content can slightly shift throughout individual HIC runs, so especially in pool 1 a partial LTA content is expectable.
