Ovine PMN activation assay with soluble Fasciola hepatica antigen (FhAg 100 μg/mL). The mitochondrial respiration profiles (OCR = oxygen consumption rate) and total extracellular acidification rate (ECAR; as defined by the area under the curve; AUC) of control (non-exposed ovine PMN) and ovine PMN stimulated with soluble FhAg (100 μg/mL). Three biological replicates. Only one animal presented higher OCR, ECAR and proton efflux rate (PER) after stimulation with FhAg 100 μg/mL, showing that this blood donor was a rather “high responder” while the other animals were rather “low responders”, resulting in a not significant increased response.
