From: Long-chain glucomannan supplementation modulates immune responsiveness, as well as intestinal microbiota, and impacts infection of broiler chickens with Salmonella enterica serotype Enteritidis

Figure 6

Effect of GM on microbiota composition in ileum and caeca before and during SE infection in broiler chickens. Hierarchical cluster analysis of relative abundance of microbial taxa targeted by the microarray in the ileum and caeca of broiler chickens either fed standard (C) or long-chain glucomannan supplemented (GM) diet at 0, 3, 7, 14 and 21 days post SE infection. The standardized relative fluorescence intensities of the microarray are depicted in a heatmap as low (blue) or high (red) relative abundance of microbial taxa. Microbiota clustered first by intestinal segment in ileum (left) or caeca (right) and subsequently by age in five clusters, but this clustering was affected by diet. Microbial taxa are colored by cluster (blue, red, green, brown, yellow). Per intestinal segment, age and diet n  = 6 and with statistical significance of FDR adjusted p values set at  < 0.05.
