Lesion scores, ZN, and PCR results for Map-exposed calves, by weeks post-inoculation (wpi). Histologic lesions were classified as negative if no lesions were detected, mild (light gray) for lesion scores of 1, or moderate (dark gray) for lesion scores of 2 and 3. No severe histologic lesions were observed. ZN data shows detection of acid fast bacilli (dark gray). Lastly, PCR shows detection of Map DNA in tissue by PCR (dark gray). Time points were 4 (A), 12 (B), 20 (C), and 28 (D) wpi, examining four ileal tissues (AD), and the draining ileocecal lymph node (E).
