Model of H5 oligomer formation by co-expression of H5-S·Tag and multimeric S·Protein-TP oligomerized by disulfide bonds. The oligomeric state of the S·Protein-TP depends on the oligomeric state of the wild-type S·Protein which is a mixture of the dominant monomer, as well as minor dimers, trimers, etc [23]. Fusion of wild-type S·Protein to TP causes additional linkage via disulfide bonds to generate multiple S·Proteins. S·Protein-TP, depicted here as an example, is a homodimer formed by a disulfide bond.
