Recoveries of nalidixic acid-resistant E. coli after primary infection. Two-week-old turkey poults were given 105 CFU of APEC O78:H9 strain χ 7122nalR via the intra-airsac route. Five birds were randomly selected, humanely killed and lung (open bars) and liver (shaded bars) sampled for enumeration of bacteria at each time-point. The data represent the mean log10CFU/g tissue ± standard error (SE) of the mean.
