Colonization ofSalmonellain spleen of broilers in the first trial. Colonization of Salmonella in spleen of 21-day-old broilers fed a diet either or not supplemented with a butyrate containing feed additive in a concentration of 3 g/kg of sodium butyrate. Each dietary treatment consisted of 1 pen of 20 broilers, except for fat-protected butyrate and wax it was 1 pen of 19 each due to mortality before inoculation. The bar charts are showing the percentages of animals having a specific infection level of Salmonella as stated in the legend (specified log number of CFU per gram spleen).
