Ultrastructural analysis of chicken thymus. Transmission electron microscopic examination of thymus samples from the four experimental groups is shown in this figure (scale bar = 2 µm). The experimental groups were the A control group, B MG-infected group, C baicalin group (450 mg/kg) and D MG-treated baicalin group (450 mg/kg). Clear signs of apoptosis were observed, including mitochondrial swelling (black arrows), membrane deformation (blue arrows) and broken mitochondrial cristae (yellow arrows).
