Double immunofluorescent stainings were performed at 24 h and 48 hpi in nasal mucosal explants. Representative confocal immunofluorescent images show BoHV-4 (red) infected CD172a+ cells (green) in the lamina propria (A). Number of single BoHV-4 infected cells in both epithelium and lamina propria of nasal mucosa (B) and the percentage of CD172a+ cells in the lamina propria (C) are given per 6 mm2 nasal mucosa at different time points after inoculation. All data are represented as means + SD of triplicate independent experiments.
