From: Inhibition of Salmonella Typhimurium adhesion, invasion, and intracellular survival via treatment with methyl gallate alone and in combination with marbofloxacin

Figure 5

Effect of methyl gallate (MG) on the expression of Salmonella Typhimurium quorum sensing genes (sdiA, srgE, and rck). A Effect of MG on srgE expression, B effect of MG on sdiA expression, and C effect of MG on rck expression. The genes were activated by 1 µmol of N-acetyl homoserine lactone (AHL) and treated with 100 and 30 µg/mL of MG and its combination with a sub-minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of MRB before incubation for 8 h. AHL-control, inoculated with Salmonella Typhimurium in the presence of AHL; MG_100, inoculated with Salmonella Typhimurium in the presence of AHL and 100 µg/mL of NG; MG_30, inoculated with Salmonella Typhimurium in the presence of AHL and 30 µg/mL of MG; MGM, inoculated with Salmonella Typhimurium in the presence of AHL and a combination of sub-MIC of MRB with 30 µg/mL of MG; sub-MIC, inoculated with Salmonella Typhimurium in the presence of AHL and sub-MIC of MRB; Salmonella, inoculated with Salmonella Typhimurium without AHL; Furanon, inoculated with Salmonella Typhimurium in the presence of AHL and 10 mg/mL of furanone as a positive control. Values indicated are the mean ± SEM (n = 3; ***P-value < 0.001).
