Accumulation of LysoTracker red into C. burnetii containing vacuoles. Bovine epithelial cells were infected with NMI and NMII for 7 days at 37 °C (strategy B3). Afterwards, cells were incubated for 2 h with LysoTracker red and additionally labeled with Anti-Coxiella antibody and DAPI and viewed by fluorescence microscopy. CCV identified by detection of C. burnetii (green) in vacuoles presents as acidified compartment (red) of the cell. N marks the nucleus labeled with DAPI (blue). White scale bars represent 50 µm length.
