Neutralization of the lesion-inducing potential of C. perfringens. The graph represents the percentage of intestinal loops in which necrotic lesions were present after 5 h of incubation with five treatments: sterile culture medium, C. perfringens alone (untreated) or C. perfringens in combination with 6% antiserum to either native alpha toxin (rCpa antiserum), antiserum to the non-toxic C-terminal fragment of alpha toxin (Cpa247–370 antiserum), or antiserum from calves immunized with adjuvant only (QuilA antiserum). The graph represents the data from three intestinal loop experiments (total of 15 loops per condition).
